DIY Cycle
Level 1 Cycle

Start with 2 keys per day. Each day work on a different key pair. The following sequence takes 12 days to complete a full cycle of all 24 major + minor keys.

    Major Keys (Sharp):
  • Day 1: C + G
  • Day 2: D + A
  • Day 3: E + B
    Major Keys (Flat):
  • Day 4: F + Bb
  • Day 5: Eb + Ab
  • Day 6: Db + Gb
    Minor Keys (Sharp):
  • Day 7: A + E
  • Day 8: B + F#
  • Day 9: C# + G#
    Minor Keys (Flat):
  • Day 10: D + G
  • Day 11: C + F
  • Day 12: Bb + Eb

You can add the Chromatic Scale to any of these keys, starting on the key note.

Note that enharmonic keys like C# and Cb major are skipped. These are identical to Db and B, respectively.

Level 2 Cycle

We can increase the difficulty with a sequence that includes more keys in one day, combining relative major + minor keys, reducing total cycle time to 6 days.

Level 3 Cycle

A more advanced sequence will go through all keys in 2 days, using parallel major + minor keys. It should only be done after the previous patterns can be played automatically from memory.

Level 4a Cycle: Ascending 5ths

The most difficult cycle, playing all keys around the full Circle of 5ths in 1 day.

Level 4b Cycle: Descending 5ths

An alternative sequence goes the opposite direction around the Circle of 5ths.
